How To Care For Your Carpet

Your carpet is one of your homes most valuable assets so it makes sense to invest the time needed to keep it in its best condition.  One of the most important things you can do to prolong the life of your carpet and keep it looking good is to give it a thorough vacuum at least once a week.  Use a good quality vacuum cleaner to remove surface dirt and pay particular attention to high traffic areas and entranceways.   Soiling of your carpet can

also be greatly reduced by the use of mats at all entrances to reduce the amount of dirt being tracked into your home.

All spills and stains should be attended to immediately – before they have had a chance to set.  Refer to a good stain removal guide to find the most effective way to remove stains.  If you are unable to remove a particularly stubborn stain, keep it covered with a damp towel to prevent it from setting and call a professional carpet cleaner.

Your carpets should also be professionally cleaned at least once a year to remove the build-up of oily and sticky soil such as air pollution, cooking vapours and tracked in dirt.  This will also help to minimise the build-up of dust mites which can be detrimental to your health.

Following these carpet care tips will ensure that you get the longest life possible from your carpet.
